Routine Business
UQ Annual Report 2011; UQ Press Annual Report 2011; minor
rule changes; PPL changes; reports of Senate sub-committees;
presentation on recent UQ mission to USA, including alumni
development models.
Student Misconduct
Further to my report of the April Senate meeting, I sought an
amendment to the minutes to reflect that it had been noted
that there appeard to be large variations in the number of
cases detected across what appeared to be similar Schools,
calling into question the consistency of the application of
the University's policy. The amendment was endorsed.
Governance
The President of the Academic Board took up the cudgel on
publication of Senate minutes in the UQ intranet, raising
points I'd addressed to her in an email. The
meeting agreed that the non-confidential section of the
minutes be published on the UQ intranet so that all staff
have access to them. Sanity restored.
In a closed session (ie, members of Senate only present),
members considered a recommendation from a selection panel to
appoint Prof Debbie Terry as Senior Deputy
Vice-Chancellor. The appointment was unanimously
endorsed. (Prof Terry was obviously not present during the
discussion.)
